Specifically, about just how far out of the normal realm of powers, villains, and urban backdrop of Gotham City the story would be heading.Forget Gotham City. How aboutPlanet Gotham?
The official synopsis was shocking enough, revealing that this newImmortal Legend Batmanwould be powered by"the energy that binds our universe and the shadow universe, transforming [Batman] into a cosmic dark knight.“But the first preview pages shown to those in attendance went further, depicting a man crashing a spaceship while fleeing Batman.
Confirming thatImmortal Legend Batmanwould be (literally) taking to the stars, Higgins was quiet about the many different spins on classic villains on the way. But when pressed, revealed that the character of Gotham would be a big surprise to readers:
“I have to be careful because I can’t talk about villains… Gotham City is its own character.Well, our Gotham City is not a city. It’s a world. Like an actual world, it’s a planet.”
