Xbox Game Passwas a bit of an unreliable service until recently, when it absolutely ballooned in quality. Since the likes ofClair Obscur: Expedition 33and even first-party titles likeIndiana Jones and the Great Circlehave graced the platform, Game Pass has finally felt worth it again. Of course, it can be easy to feel like that streak will run out any minute now, especially with the fickle nature of video games and their overall quality.

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers Is A Day-One Game Pass Release On July 24

It Could Be The Service’s Biggest Game This Year

Wuchang: Fallen Featherslooks set to be 2025’s big-ticket item. It ticks all the right boxes, being both a soulslike and an RPG, while also attempting toreplicateBlack Myth: Wukong’ssuccess. It is set in the dark and tumultuous land of Shu, a world steeped in the rich and captivating mythology of Ancient China, and also takes heavy inspiration from Wuxia fiction and martial arts combat. Furthermore,Wuchangutilizes Unreal Engine 5, giving it the same glossy, detailed sheen that madeBlack Myth: Wukongone of the best-looking games of 2024.

You can enjoy it on day-one when it launches on Thursday, August 15, 2025.

RPGs & Souls Games Have Been Proven Blockbuster Hits

The Likes Of Black Myth: Wukong & Clair Obscur Have Been Incredibly Successful

So far, some of2025’s biggest gameshave been RPGs. Of course,Clair Obscur: Expedition 33has absolutely dominated the conversation when it comes to this year’s GOTY, but we’ve also had other fantastic games in the genre, such asMetaphor: ReFantazio. 2024 was largely dominated by soulslike titles, withBlack Myth: WukongandShadow of the Erdtreeboth getting GOTY nominations. ConsideringWuchangis combining both with a heavy Wuxia influence,it feels like it is on track to be a huge hit this year.

Of course, that remains to be seen, especially as it is reportedly incredibly challenging. However, thanks to the increased prevalence of soulslikes, its fanbase and even newcomers should be better accustomed to its style of combat. I’m pretty sure we’ll be seeingWuchang: Fallen Feathersat the Game Awards in some capacity, likely as a GOTY contender, and luckily, we’ll all be able to vote confidently on whether it should win, as we’ll have played it completely for free viaXbox Game Pass.
