InSuperman #27by Joshua Williamson, Eddy Barrows, Eber Ferreira, Sean Izaakse, and Alejandro Sánchez,the Darkseid Legion hasimprisoned the Time Trapper and istaking him to meet their other captive, Booster Gold. Lightning Lad is dismissive of what they are doing and asks why they’re even bothering to keep a joke like Booster alive.
Saturn Girl informs her comrades that Booster is anything but a joke. After passing through the Omega rift,it filled Booster Gold with Omega Energy, the same energy used to shape the Absolute Universe. She even goes so far as to call Booster “the key to everything”. Unfortunately, while Time Trapper escapes,Booster Gold remains inthe Darkseid Legion’s clutches.

Darkseid made waves last year when he attacked the Justice League and exploded, creating rifts connected to his new world, the Absolute Universe. The only hero from the Prime DCU to follow into the breach wasBooster Gold and, after making it through, he was attacked by a corrupted Legion of Superheroes, who have been holding him captive for months.
Being filled with Omega Energy would explain why Darkseid hasn’t tried to kill Booster Gold yet. Darkseid isusing the Absolute Universeto recover, so it makes sense he’d keep Booster around, likely as a backup energy source. But with Omega Energy at his disposal,Booster could be a vital resource in helping the Prime and Absolute heroes defeat Darskeid.

The Justice League and the Absolute Heroes Need His Omega Energy
Darkseid expended a lot of Omega Energy in creating the Absolute Universe, but he’s going to be strong enough to attack again soon. While Superman (and his Absolute counterpart) could fight back, they’re going to need a little extra fighting power on their side.If the Justice League can rescue Booster Gold, they may be prepared for when Darkseid returns.
As seen in the recent “We Are Yesterday” crossover, Omega Energy is causing problems with the DC Universe’s stability. The League needs Omega Energy they can control in order to fight Darkseid on his own terms. Booster may be their best shot at takingDarkseiddown, but he’ll have to find his way back to the PrimeDC Universefirst.
